I Wish I Was Here.

Today is Opening Day at the Del Mar Racetrack. Admittedly, we skipped Opening Day last year, but we planned a "replacement" day - where everyone we normally hit opening day with, went at the same time not too long after. Each year prior, we made it. (We being my husband and I.) Even the year I was 8 months pregnant I went, and except for that bozo guy who made a comment about me drinking - even though it was a non-alcoholic beer - it was awesome. I love the track. It's one of my favorite summer time activities.... even though the visits are few and far between. (It isn't cheap if you like to bet!) But, Opening Day offers the best chance to see the most interesting people, run into the most friends, and enjoy the most bets. And. I'm at work. I don't have to be. I didn't take the day off. I spared my husband the necessity of taking a pregnant wife, and he went with his friends. And, since he didn't ask me twice about it - why would he - I figure that is probably what he really wanted to do... was just enjoy it with his pals. What was I thinking? Maybe I still have time to convince my boss to let me go, grab a girlfriend and go on my own. Because, I gave up one of my most favorite days for no reason! Maybe I will go Friday, even if I have to go by myself. Have you been? Wanna go?
